The idea of gifting Bongaigaon an institute of higher education for women brought together by a group of likeminded philanthropic and in a meeting on 29.11.1992 presided over by Late Binanda Chandra Pathak, a noted educationist was decided that a sponsoring body chaired by Mr. Phani Bhushan Choudhury the then MLA of 32-Bongaigaon Constituency and now MP of 3-Barpeta Parliamentary Constituency be constituted to realize that dream.
